Judy Lipman Shechter was born in Chicago, IL
Ms Lipman Shechter attended the University Of Illinois Chicago for her BFA then moved to New York City for her MFA at Pratt Institute.
She lives and works in NY and Chicago.

Judy Lipman Shechter’s early interest in art led to her attending classes at The Art Institute of Chicago as a child, where the Thorne Rooms began her fascination with the magical elements of miniatures and installation art.
Her present day installations, sculptures, assemblages and photographs use found objects and materials from nature to address the universal issues of the environment, feminism, politics and religion.
